Descendants of The Sun 2 may not have its original lead stars Soong Joong Ki and Song Hye Kyo. Reports indicate that the two drama actors are too busy to come back to the show for its second installment. But it will not be easy for the series to gain the same popularity in the absence of the main characters. That is why the showrunners want to drop the idea of the second season.
Descendants of The Sun was a major milestone in the career of Korean actors Song Hye Kyo and Soong Joong Ki. The show became extremely popular and helped them reach to a new level of success and fame. However, now it seems that the two stars are not keen to return for the Descendants of The Sun 2. Reports suggest that both of them are extremely busy in other projects hence they cannot continue to a second season.
Song Joong Ki Replaces Kang Gary In ‘Running Man’
According to iTechPost, Joong Ki is all set to replace Kang Gary in the reality show, the Running Man. He previously appeared in the show contributing to its high ratings. Media sources reported earlier that Gary intends to leave the show. So, it would be but natural for Joong Ki to take over the place of Kang Gary and continue his success streak.

Since Song Joong Ki does not intend to work in the Descendants of The Sun 2, his co-star Song Hye Kyo might follow him. The first season became extremely popular. Joong Ki and Hye Kyo’s chemistry set the screen on fire. With Joong Ki gone, it would be difficult for Hye Kyo to continue doing the show.
In the absence of both the lead stars, the Descendants of The Sun 2 may take the time to recreate its place in the minds of the viewers. That is why the showrunners are not sure whether to come out with a sequel or not.
