The Diablo 4 release date has been delayed again because of Diablo 3. At worst, Diablo 4 Dream Warriors might just remain a dream, and stay trapped forever in development hell. Just like how Andariel is blocking the road to the east, the one that is blocking the Diablo 4 release Date is none other than its own predecessor, Diablo 3.
Released four years ago, Diablo 3 is still going strong. Initially released on the PC, it has ported later on to the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. And similar to the immortal titular demon of the game, it has eventually made its way to the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. This places the game under two generations of consoles.
Diablo 3: Rise of the Necromancer DLC
The Rise of the Necromancer DLC is further testament to the popularity of Diablo 3. In the latest patch, the Necromancer character class has been revived. The Necromancer is a fan favorite character class from Diablo 2. Despite the popularity of the third game, a lot of long time fans of the previous games, appear to be displeased when the Necromancer class is nowhere to be found during the initial release of the game.
To further feed the nostalgia of long time fans, the DLC has also included dungeons and maps from the very first game. This also makes the inclusion dungeons and maps from Diablo 2 highly plausible in the near future, like the Secret Cow Level.
Diablo 4 Release Date
Blizzard Entertainment has confirmed that Diablo 4 is currently not a part of their planned release in the near future, and that fans should just wait for their announcement, as reported by Game N Guide.
Diablo 2 was one of the most popular games of its time, and it took eight years before it spawned a sequel. Based on the current popularity of Diablo 3, along with the fact that this is an era of DLC’s, Diablo 4 might remain as a dream for now.
