Final Fantasy 7 Remake Release Date May See Further Delay – Here’s Why

The Final Fantasy 7 Remake sees further delay and will not be released early on according to Tetsuya Nomura. Nomura is a Japanese video game artist under the company of Square Enix. He designed the characters for Final Fantasy and is currently directing the Final Fantasy 7 Remake for PS4 as well as Kingdom Hearts 3 for PS4 and Xbox One. The game’s remake was announced way back in 2015.

Why Will The Final Fantasy Remake Be Delayed?

In an interview by Weekly Famitsu with Nomura, the director apologized to the Final Fantasy fans beforehand. He said that “While we are making them, I apologize that the wait will be be a bit longer for… Final Fantasy 7 Remake. I am very sorry…” Nomura confirmed that the Square Enix team is already “progressing on production”  for the remake. He also assured fans that “to that degree I will make a game that will meet your expectations.”

Final Fantasy 7 Anniversary

2017 marks the 20th anniversary for Final Fantasy 7 and the 30th anniversary for the Role-Playing Game (RPG) Final Fantasy in general. Nomura said that they will be showing a snow sculpture of Final Fantasy 7. This will be held at the Sapporo Snow Festival in Japan this February.

Kingdom Hearts 3 Teases

It is also Kingdom Hearts 3‘s 15th Anniversary this year. Nomura confirmed that they will be releasing Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8: Final Chapter Prologue this January. The team will also be releasing Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 + 2.5 Remix in March and will kick in with the Kingdom Hearts orchestra world tour. They may also “do something” about the D23 Disney event. He also teased that the team is already preparing for the start of Kingdom Hearts Unchained χ Season 2.

Nomura shared that Square Enix promises to announce more information about both the Final Fantasy remake edition and Kingdom Hearts 3. “Last year, I didn’t put out much information on either title, but this year I want to show our progress at an event somewhere. The release of the titles themselves have still have a way to go,” Nomura said. He also revealed that 2017 is a year where Square Enix will be releasing many titles. “But there are many titles releasing this year, if you can wait for any ‘surprises,’” he added.
