Many people and sites have different lists on who is the best Pokemon. It is, however, usually the same ones but in different ranking. Since the November 21 patch that includes the balance update for Pokemon Go, the lists of the best are no longer as accurate as before the update. Below is a Pokemon Go Gym Guide of the best Pokemon defenders and attackers after the update.
The best attackers and defenders for the ultimate Pokemon Go Gym guide
It is important for a player to know which Pokemon is good in defending and attacking. This is basically so the player can protect a gym he or she “owns.” There are Pokemon that can do both jobs but are not considered the best ones for it.
And since the latest patch, the stats of the existing and yet to be discovered Pokemon have changed. This data is crucial as it will determine how to form the best team to protect and conquer gyms.
Tech Mic reported an example of a stat change that happened with some Pokemon. Rhydon became a potential powerhouse and Chansey increased her odds in the Pokemon Go world. Below are the top 15 lists consolidated with the updated stats. The lists, however, include Mewtwo, Mew, Moltres, Zapdos, and Articuno who are all yet to be discovered. Mr Mime, who is only available in some territories, was also included.

According to a report by Eurogamer, the stats of all 151 Pokemon can be seen on Silph Road’s research page.
There is one name that appeared on both lists: Kingler. The data clearly says that Kingler is ideal to make a formidable team. There are, however, some reports that say that Snorlax is the best Pokemon to have in the team. The rare Tier 1 Pokemon is multi-purpose but is considered slightly better in defense.
