Assassin’s Creed Empire Release Date: Pre-Order Page Points To Holiday 2017 Launch [Rumor]

Ubisoft settled with one Assassin’s Creed game in 2016, namely Assassin’s Creed Chronicles, which is a 2.5D side-scroller that launched for the PlayStation Vita, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. The company did not develop any major installments that followed Assassin’s Creed Syndicate. A pre-order page from retailer World of Games revealed an Assassin’s Creed Empire release date, which could mean that they will return this year.

The World of Games pre-order page showed that the Assassin’s Creed Empire release date will be in the fourth quarter of 2017. The game is priced at €79 and will come out for the PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.

Ubisoft has not yet revealed the Assassin’s Creed Empire release date nor any details about an upcoming sequel. If developers do proceed with the said title for the next installment, the question of where it will take place remains.

Assassin’s Creed Empire Leaks

Last month, a user posted in the Assassin’s Creed subreddit a photo showing an assassin standing in front of a pyramid. According to the comments in post, the clothing style, weapons, stance, and sandy environment point it as an actual leak of Assassin’s Creed Empire.

Moderators of the Assassin’s Creed subreddit had taken down the image and might have even banned the thread starter. The image had some similarities with the old Osiris Project that Ubisoft was working on back in 2013.

Although they have some aspects that looked the same, the leaked image looked more modern than Osiris. Ubisoft did not continue with Osiris then, but fans believe that it will become an Assassin’s Creed game in the future.

Other speculations show that the assassin is not standing in front of a pyramid but a tomb. Some also think that Assassin’s Creed Empire will take place Israel or Palestine and not Egypt.

Assassin’s Creed History

Ubisoft launched the first Assassin’s Creed game on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in 2007. It featured the Third Crusade or, as known in history, The Kings’ Crusade. The game introduced Desmond Miles, a descendant of an assassin, as the protagonist of the series.

Miles had to relive the life of one of his ancestors, Altaïr Ibn-La’Ahad, through the Animus in order to locate the Apple of Eden.  Assassin’s Creed 2 followed the game in 2012 which developers had set into the Renaissance Period.

Assassin’s Creed 3 launched in 2012 and was set during the American Revolution. This entry also marked the death of a notable present time protagonist. Desmond Miles gets killed off in the ending of Assassin’s Creed 3.

Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag came out in 2012 and 2013 respectively. These games made their way back to the Colonial Era where they introduced Edward Kenway as the new main character after Miles died.

The sequel to Black Flag, Assassin’s Creed Unity, came out in 2014 and it featured the French Revolution. Meanwhile, the latest installment for the main game came out in 2015 as Assassin’s Creed Syndicate set during the Victorian Era.
