The Avengers 3 Infinity War will start filing next year. Fans are now wondering whether Marvel will be replacing its cast members with new stars.
Avengers 3 Infinity War, the third Avengers movie franchise, is set to begin production in January. Many wonder how this, and the other sequels for Avengers set for a summer 2019 release, will close out Phase 3 and will transition into the mysterious Phase 4.
These movies will mark the “culmination” of Phase 3. With 67 characters possibly appearing in the movie, some guess that a few of these heroes may get killed off. Feige teased the potential of finding new actors if the old actors get killed off and do not make it to Phase 4; or if they part ways with the Marvel Cinematic Universe because most of the original Avengers’ contracts are about to expire.
When asked if Marvel would re-cast their biggest characters like Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man and Chris Evans as Captain America, Marvel Studios President and Producer Kevin Feige said it’s unlikely.
In an interview with Variety, Feige said that they “don’t have to make that decision anytime soon”. Right now, he does not “want to think about it and don’t need to think about it.”
Marvel Universe Phase 4
Marvel has issued release dates for the first three Phase 4 movies, which will arrive on May 1, 2020, July 10, 2020 and November 6, 2020. Feige confirmed that these are considered to be spoilers for Avengers 3 Infinity War. It is possible that some major changes could be in store for the line-up.
Feige has high praise for the Avengers stars. He said that he cannot envision anybody else to star as Iron Man other than Robert Downey Jr. He added that Chris Evans has embodied Captain America as well as any other actor who embodied an iconic pop-culture figure. If MCU launches new stories with these characters but with new actors, they will have to follow very tough acts.
The Russo Brothers are directing both Avengers 3 Infinity War and the untitled Avengers 4. The movies will be releasing on May 4, 2018 and May 3, 2019, respectively. Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely are the script writers for both movies, which will close out Phase 3.
