Looking for some man candy in the eve of Valentine’s day? Not everyone is very lucky in their search. However, players can always find love in their best video game boyfriends, who make life easier for them.
Here are five of the best video game boyfriends that can help players believe in love all over again.
John Marston – Red Dead Redemption
Some of the best video game boyfriends relationships go strong long after the honeymoon. Take John and Abigail Marston — those two fell in love years before Red Dead Redemption happened. However, they still cared for each other after staying away from a life of crime for farm work.
John Marston spends most of Red Dead Redemption searching for his former partners in crime so he can free his wife and son. John is faithful throughout his quest- once he’s reunited with his family, he goes back to the ranch. No matter how tough the chores were, Abigail and John were happy with their new, modest lives.
Nathan Drake – The Uncharted Series
Nathan Drake is cast just like action icons Indiana Jones and James Bond. While players enjoyed Nate’s flirtatious encounters with journalist Elena Fisher in the first Uncharted game, it didn’t really go anywhere. When Uncharted 2: Among Thieves started with Drake meeting past love Chloe Frazer, Elena became yesterday’s news.
Instead, Elena returned midway in the Uncharted series, reminding Nathan of how good they were as a couple. Elena is a caring individual concerned with stopping war criminals, and that inspires Drake to these traits in himself. Drake ultimately became a better man thanks to the girl. A testament to their love is when the pair married in Uncharted 4.
Link – The Legend Of Zelda
For more than two decades, Link has been bravely struggling to save the damsel from the desert brigand Ganon. This definitely goes first in the character traits of best video game boyfriends.
There have been a lot of developments in the franchise in terms of character design and storylines. Zelda is not excluded from this, as she has previously shown up under aliases and alter egos. Even with all these changes, Link and Zelda’s chemistry and love remained constant in the game.
Noctis Lucis Caelum – Final Fantasy 15
Apart from all the action and cutting edge graphics in Final Fantasy 15, the game also features a love story. The love between the main protagonist Noctis, and his fiancee Lunafreya, shows that the two make up one the best love stories seen so far. In the game’s ending scene, Noctis and Lunafreya appear to be married to each other in a dream-like sequence.
Johnathan Wyles – To The Moon
To The Moon‘s love story is actually the main story of the game. The game starts with an introduction to Johnny, an elderly man with a dying wish to go to the moon. Players are tasked to implant an artificial memory into his brain so he can rest in peace.
As the player starts to dig into his life’s story, they begin to uncover his relationship with his wife, River. She died a few years earlier due to a disorder that made their communication difficult. River creates rooms full of origami bunnies for Johnny and he has no idea why. Meanwhile, he writes her a song that she doesn’t respond to, and she asks him questions that he doesn’t understand.
The deeper the gamer dives into Johnny’s memories, the more they learn about their relationship. Moreover, this leads to the player knowing why they’re doing the things they’re doing. Even more, why Johnny’s dying wish is to go to the moon. Fair warning: there will be tears.
