Honoring Carrie Fisher: The Old Republic
The Carrie Fisher dead memorial took place at the BioWare’s Star Wars: The Old Republic game. This game is a massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG) in the Star Wars universe. Players from different servers in this memorial are holding impromptu gatherings in the House Organa on planet Alderaan to pay respect to Fisher.
The fans asked for BioWare to add some tribute to Carrie Fisher as Princess Leia. This would be difficult to do since The Old Republic is set thousands of years before the princess was born.
Honoring Carrie Fisher: Battlefront
On the other side of the Star Wars gaming world, Star Wars Battlefront fans are asking for EA Dice, the game’s developer, to release a new version of Princess Leia to commemorate Carrie Fisher dead. Battlefront is an action game where players traverse planets from the original Star Wars trilogy where they can choose to control either a Rebel Alliance soldier, an Imperial Stormtrooper or other playable characters such as Princess Leia.
In this game, Leia usually appears in a cold-weather outfit she wore on the ice planet of Hoth in The Empire Strikes Back. Dice announced this year that they have been working on the character in terms of an alternate skin, or look, based on Leia’s white outfit from the original 1977 Star Wars film but was eventually put to a stop.
Players from all over the gaming world have a lot of requests to Star Wars game developers in honor of commemorating Carrie Fisher. Some ask for a recreation of Princess Leia in support of the Star Wars community’s loss. Meanwhile, some ask for rather intense requests such as fixing bugs in the game because fans claim that Carrie Fisher deserves it. Virtual fans mourn and express their grief on online fanbase such as subreddit and official forums in Star Wars.
