Paradox Interactive announced that they would release a free downloadable content (DLC) for Cities Skylines to celebrate its two-year anniversary. The publisher confirmed that the free DLC will contain the building pack known as “Pearls From the East” which will contain three new buildings. The three building include the Panda Zoo, the Chinese Temple, and the Shanghai Pearl Tower.
Cities Skylines had sold over 3.5 million copies worldwide and to thank the community, the publisher decided to give them a free DLC. It became an award-winning city-building game developed by Colossal Order and had reached its milestone this year.
Paradox Interactive CEO Fredrik Wester posted on their site that Cities Skylines had broken records since the day they released the game. It became the company’s biggest launch that sold 250,000 copies in the first 24 hours.
It became more popular over the last two years and it had built huge and devoted fan base. Colossal Order Chief Executive Mariina Hallikainen said they became inspired on how the community shared their cities and mods with each other.
Paradox Interactive had released three DLCs for the game already and they include After Dark, Snowfall, and, the most recent, Natural Disasters. The latest DLC introduced a catalog of catastrophes to challenge players everywhere.
Natural Disasters introduced the challenge to prepare for early warning systems and emergency routes before facing disaster effects. Players also have to care for its citizens as they struggle to rebuild the ruins that disasters left them.
According to ParadoxPlaza, Natural Disasters features deep and impactful gameplay, response abilities, a scenario mode, and new broadcast network. The DLC is available now for US$14.99, the same price as the After Dark DLC.
The game is currently available for Microsoft Windows, Macintosh Operating Systems, MacOS, and Linux. It would come out on Xbox One sometime before the end of June 2017 after the announcement back at Gamescom 2015.
