Death Stranding has a strong cast behind it but is another Hollywood A-Lister joining the team? There has been a lot of chatter about the addition of Spider-Man star Emma Stone – is there truth to it?
Recently, Stone won Best Actress for her La La Land role and has been rumored to be in line to play the female lead in the game. Recently, Mads Mikkelsen commented on the speculation during the recent Saudi Comic-Con. Mikkelsen was asked if he heard the rumors of about Emma Stone’s involvement.
Per Game Rant, his noncommittal response was, “I can’t talk about that, but I really like that rumor. That’s a lovely rumor.” At this point, while there is still no certainty, the possibility remains as Mads didn’t deny the rumor.
What Do We Know About The Rumor?
According to IB Times, back in September 2016, Hideo Kojima teased of a female heroine. The star would be the co-lead protagonist alongside Norman Reedus. Furthermore, per fans, Kojima has tweeted a lot about the actress – mostly about La La Land – but this was enough to link the star to the project.
Following the comment, PC Games N reported that casting for the heroine was still underway. Moreover, it hasn’t been determined if players will be playing Reedus or this unnamed female.
Aside from Stone, iTechPost three other actresses reportedly in the running include Dutch actress Stefanie Joosten. Joosten is currently based in Japan. Second is TV actresses Alison Brie from the show Community and lastly, Krysten Ritter from Jessica Jones.
In addition, aside from Reedus and Mikkelsen, the rumor mill has been buzzing about Kevin Durand and Idris Elba for unknown roles. Elba comes with a pretty solid resume given his role on Thor movies, Star Trek Beyond and the upcoming The Dark Tower adaptation. This shows that Elba has a knack for fantasy projects, noted Polygon.
At this point, with these rumors not having been officially confirmed by the team behind the game, it’s best to take these reports with a grain of salt. More news can be expected as development for the highly-anticipated game moves forward.
Below is the first full-length trailer for the project which was debuted during The Game Awards last December. This is the first substantial look at the game following its official announcement at the E3 last June.
Death Stranding is expected to be released sometime in 2018 or 2019. It will be released exclusively on the PlayStation 4.
