Blizzard Entertainment’s Diablo 3 has announced a couple of upcoming updates during the BlizzCon 2016, the company’s own video game convention. Some of the updates include “The Darkening of Tristram,” a recreation of the original Diablo using the Diablo 3 engine, the Necromancer class, a new take on a classic character, the armory, new zones, items and new content for the console versions.
The Darkening of Tristram
According to popular role-playing game site Battle.net, one of the updates that was recently announced is called “The Darkening of Tristram.” It is a faithful recreation of the original Diablo game that was released in 1996, complete with pixelated graphics and deliberately “tinny” audio. “The Darkening of Tristram” will be available in January.
A new feature called The Armory was also announced. It is an equipment manager that players can use to store up to five different “loadouts” or configurations on weapons, armors and skills. Through this, Diablo 3 players can now easily manage and quickly swap out their preferred “loadout” containing their favorite skills, weapons and armors.
New Necromancer in 2017
A new Necromancer character class will also be making its way to the game. It will arrive in New Tristram in 2017. It is a reimagined version of the popular hero class from Diablo 2, which is a character that can command the forces of the dead.
The Necromancer is a member of the Priests of Rathma. Players of the game will be glad to know that the character can still wield classic spells such as the Bone Spear and Corpse Explosion, along with some new ones such as Siphon Blood and Blood Rush.
Other Diablo 3 Updates
The game development team is also working on new items, enemies and zones, as well as the ability to play Seasons on consoles. Seasons is a feature that was previously only available on the game’s desktop version.
