In celebration of the long running game Dragon Quest‘s 30th anniversary, Japanese TV station NHK aired Square Enix’s sneak peek of the upcoming Dragon Quest 11: In Search of Departed Time video game. The new gameplay footage features battles, new locations, weapons and glimpse of a flying dragon mount.

The entire special presentation aired on NHK has not made its way online yet for the game’s Western fans. However, the news it featured is now all over the internet. One of the most striking parts of the overview was the bright blue dragon.
As reported by Polygon, Dragon Quest is typically a game that fights off dragons and not use them to the hero’s advantage. However, it can be remembered that Wii game Dragon Quest 10 already featured flying mounts. But then, the game never made its way to the U.S. market.
Apart from the flying dragon mount, the presentation also included some behind the scenes look at both the PlayStation 4 and Nintendo 3DS versions. The Nintendo Switch version is reported to still be in development.
It appears that Dragon Quest 11 will have a camping site where its main purpose is to recover hit points (HP) and magic points or mana (MP). According to a report by Siliconera, it has options for Pray to Goddess, Patrol and Mysterious Smithing.
One of the more elaborate menus in the game is the one for weapons. In the case of creating swords, the right material needed and the degree of difficulty are shown.
The presentation made use of the Japanese version of the game. Dragon Quest 11 is due for release in Japan next year for PS4 and 3DS. It is also announced to have a Nintendo Switch version. However, this information is for the Japanese market. It has not been confirmed yet if the game will have an overseas release.
