For Honor Beta Reveals Mortal Kombat Reference – See It Here

For Honor is definitely in the news with beta testers displaying their clutch victories and executions alike. In an interesting development, a Reddit user has stumbled upon a Mortal Kombat reference. This is neatly stowed away in a corner of the game map.

This Mortal Kombat reference is now getting For Honor fans really excited. There are two figures on the bridge present in the looming distance. One of them seems to be on fire. This scene is a straight ode to the Pit stage background in Mortal Kombat 2.

The figure on fire seems to be Blaze, a character seen in Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance. He is also available in Mortal Kombat: Unchained and Mortal Kombat: Armageddon. He has also done several cameos in other titles like Mortal Kombat X.

More on the Upcoming Game

The other character is known as Hornbuckle. This clearly indicates that someone on the For Honor development team is an ardent fan of Mortal Kombat, as per VG 24/7. The game launches this Tuesday for Xbox One, PC and PS4.

It should certainly be a mega affair since a whopping 3 million gamers played the beta version. Players can pick from several units across Viking, Knight and Samurai war factions. They can then fight it out across many multiplayer modes.

There is a clear emphasis on specific roles which is something similar to Rainbow Six Siege. Ubisoft will be hoping to attain greater success with For Honor since the latter proved to be a damp squib. Reddit also confirms the presence of this unique Mortal Kombat reference and the picture posted by the user can be clearly seen here.

There are several calculated tactics available in the game. These are employed for blocking enemy attacks till the revenge meter is filled up. This allows players to swiftly counter with more devastating and faster swings of their own weapons.

What fans will also love is the unique approach taken by another Reddit user. He allowed his counterpart to think that his unit had fled to safety. Thereafter, he attacked by lunging from a bridge to destroy them from above.

Did This Strategy Work?

This strategy clearly worked due to the nature of the game. Another user also did something similar and has confirmed that the move requires perfect timing. A little luck is also required to pull it off to perfection.

The game rests on a premise where several warrior factions are at odds with each other for several reasons. Beta users have already been impressed by the technical prowess of the game.
