Industry Icon Award received by Hideo Kojima

The Industry Icon Award at the Game Awards 2016 was a controversial and a well deserved one. The recognition was given to Hideo Kojima who was basically set on isolation while he was making Metal Gear Solid 5. As reported by Kotaku, the falling out between Konami and Kojima has left the latter being isolated from his development team. Kojima was on a separate floor in a separate room from everyone else.

When Hideo Kojima received the Industry Icon Award in the Games Award 2016, he said that he thought he has lost everything but he did not because of all his supporters. After that, he premiered a new Death Stranding trailer.
