Ghost Recon Wildlands will have a live action short as revealed by Ubisoft in a press announcement. The live film would be a 30 minute video on the Santa Blanca drug cartel. This will go before the game’s release date on March 7, 2017. The game will be available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC platforms.
A Glimpse of the Wildlands
Ghost Recon Wildlands is the most recent entry in Tom Clancy’s military shooter game Ghost Recon. The open world shooter game is set in Bolivia. The special forces group called Ghosts are aiming to take down the power of the Santa Blanca drug cartel. This association of manufacturers are the main adversaries of the Ghosts in the game. After an attack on this association, its highest leaders try to find the traitor in order to avenge their group. The players of the game can fight off the impending war with the cartel by using weapons that they can choose to customize.
Short Film Details
As a way of hyping up fans of Ghost Recon, Ubisoft will start the release of the game with a bang by airing the 30-minute live action film. This is some sort of marketing strategy of Ubisoft. Of course, the short will be set in the world of Ghost Recon Wildlands. This Wildlands-inspired film is presently in production.
The film will be entitled War Within the Cartel. It is being produced by Legion of Creatives. It involves executive producer Roberto Orci, who wrote screenplays for renowned films such as Star Trek, Transformers, Mission Impossible 3 and The Amazing Spider-Man 2. The film makers also asked military experts and aviation specialists to contribute with the making of the short so that it matches with what occurs in real life events and wars. Characters in the teaser include rapper and actor Tip “T.I.” Harris who will take on the role of Marcus who is a member of the Santa Blanca cartel.
The film will be shown on the official Ubisoft Twitch channel. This will air on February 16. After its premiere showing, Ubisoft will make the film available on Amazon Prime.
