A lot of mods have been installed into the different franchises of Grand Theft Auto (GTA). The mods include weapons, vehicles, tools and players. But the best change would be an alteration in the game’s maps because it gives the player a greater place for exploration and adventure. The newest version of GTA gets another mod, thanks to a group of developers on OpenIV.
OpenIV is a multi-purpose editor and archive manager for PC versions of Grand Theft Auto 5 among others which started in 2015. The OpenIV tool set was also used to mod Max Payne 3 and GTA 4. The Russian developers behind the modding tool or modifying tool have decided to add GTA 4‘s Liberty City into the newest version of the game.
Liberty City in GTA 5
The group of Russian modders announced yesterday that Liberty City is finally coming into the game and added that the city is not a replacement for the city of Los Santos or Blaine Country. Rather, it would be appearing across seas and will be a new area for the game as what was shown in its two newly released trailers. The modders used OpenIV and OpenFormats to achieve this change.
What to Expect
The conversion of Liberty City from GTA 4 to GTA 5 will be automatic, according to the modders. Thus, the players will be required to have a copy of GTA 4 plus Grand Theft Auto 5 for the conversion of the city from the older game which will be installed to the newer game.
Players would also need to download a converter tool with some additional assets. This will make a single player DLC pack be installed into the latest game. It is also preemptive that players who plan to download this version open up a lot of space on their hard drives for the new mod. The download would also require the OpenIV because the converter tool will need it during the process.
However, the modders clarified that this mod cannot be played online because Rockstar Games does not allow mods in GTA Online.
The modders stated that they still have no information as to when the new game will be finally released. But, they assured that it will be launched as soon as possible. Unfortunately, the game will not be having an early preview or beta version.
