Halo Wars 2 Demo Available For Free: How To Try For PC & Xbox

Microsoft has just released a Halo Wars 2 Demo for both PC and Xbox One owners. It includes the opening mission of the game and the new game mode known as Blitz Firefight.

The opening mission of Halo Wars 2 requires players to strategically command an army in a large-scale battle. Meanwhile, the Blitz Firefight features a quick game mode where players have to use decks of cards to summon troops to fend off waves of enemies.

In order to grab the Halo Wars 2 Demo for free, players have to go to the official Microsoft Store website. There, they will see the game and it should be listed for free. Click “Get the game” and it will start downloading.

The demo has the approximate size of 16.7 GB so depending on the player’s internet connection, it might take a while. Microsoft had allowed it so that the demo can be installed up to 10 Windows 10 devices.

For players to download the free demo, they also have to comply with the recommended or the minimum requirements of the game. According to PCGamer, the minimum and recommended specs are as follows:

Minimum Requirements:

  • Operating System: Windows 10
  • Architecture: x64 Bit
  • DirectX: DirectX 12 API, Hardware Feature 11
  • Memory: At least 6 GB
  • Video Memory: Unspecified
  • Processor: Intel i5-2500, AMD FX-4350 or better
  • Graphics: nVidia GeForce GTX 650 Ti, AMD Radeon HD 7750, Intel HD 520 or better
  • Keyboard: Integrated Keyboard
  • Mouse: Integrated Mouse

Recommended Requirements:

  • Operating System: Windows 10
  • Architecture: x64 Bit
  • DirectX: DirectX 12 API, Hardware Feature 12 or better
  • Memory: 8 GB or higher
  • Video Memory: 4 GB or higher
  • Processor: Intel Core i5-4690K, AMD FX-8350 or better
  • Graphics: nVidia GeForce GTX 1060, AMD FX-8350 or better
  • Keyboard: Integrated Keyboard
  • Mouse: Integrated Mouse

Those who were given by Microsoft an early copy of the game gave their reviews about it. The single-player campaign has 12 missions that can take at least eight full hours to complete.

According to IGN, each design is nothing overly special but they still avoid repeating the cliche missions such as “go and destroy the enemy base.” Most missions have a hero-focused objective like leading the troops into war or surviving enemy attacks.

Only a couple of missions can be considered as unique since there is only a few variety to keep them from being repetitive. Despite this, the animated cut scenes shown in the game were phenomenal as they have told the story well. The new game mode, Blitz Firefight, even managed to live up to the expectations given to it.
