Horizon Zero Dawn Release: What You Need To Know Before Playing

Horizon Zero Dawn is coming out this February and it’s one of the most highly anticipated games this year. Brought to you by Guerilla Games, this is the studio’s first attempt at a role-playing game and one that has players interested for its game play, graphics and storyline.

But before you start playing Horizon Zero Dawn, there are a couple of things you need to know. One, it’s not just your usual RPG. Based on the trailers, the setting looks like a cross between an ancient world yet it also has that post-apocalyptic feel.

Second, the world that Horizon Zero Dawn seems to have is a mix of humans and machines. These machines resemble ancient creatures that are mechanical or animalistic.

Read on below for more of what the game has in store for interested fans. But one thing is for sure, Horizon: Zero Dawn seems like a game you wouldn’t want to miss out on.

Map Size

Guerilla Games has previously said that the map for Horizon: Zero Dawn is “comparable” to that of other recent open-world video games. Based on a recent leak, the map for this game is said to have the likes of Velen from The Witcher 3.

This means you don’t have to worry about the size of the map. Horizon: Zero Dawn is huge.

The setting for the game indicates that humanity has chosen to live their lives like those of the olden age. There are tribes and hunters about. Aloy, the main protagonist in the game, belongs to the Braves tribe which are known to be the first ones to hunt machines.

There’s also the Nora tribe who oppose ancient technology. They are known for having women as their leaders.

The game will also have you kill a number of enemies. This will help you rank up within your hunting lodge’s hierarchy.

Humans and Machines

As mentioned above, the world where the game is set will have humans and machines as enemies. Machines have different animalistic personalities as well.

Aloy can “hack” the machines she spots so she can ride and use them to travel. This ability also allows her to control them for a minimum amount of time. You may be able to hack every machine in the Horizon: Zero Dawn world and it is said that you will be rewarded for doing so.

Corruption Zone

A Corruption Zone exists in the game. Guerilla Games hasn’t provided much details on such, but this could be a part of training. You might be able to battle out corrupted enemies and in turn, will make future missions easier.

PS4 Pro

The game will bring out all the features of PS4 Pro. It offers high quality visuals such as a 1080p display along with 2160p checkerboard rendering and HDR. This will let you experience the best out of PS4 Pro while playing the game.

Horizon: Zero Dawn comes out on February 28 for the PlayStation 4.
