An old school Japanese role-playing game (JRPG) is coming to town. Square Enix’s I am Setsuna is set to be released for the Nintendo Switch.
All About I am Setsuna
The Japanese game I am Setsuna was launched for PC and PlayStation 4 in February 2016. Now, it is one of the titles that will be released alongside the Nintendo Switch. However, the game will be available digitally only outside of Japan.
I am Setsuna revolves around the story of a maiden named Serena, who was forced to sacrifice herself to appease hostile demons. However, the demons became restless once again. This forced them to choose Setsuna as the next sacrifice. With a mercenary named Endir, traveler Aeterna, and a soldier named Nidr, they embark on a journey to the ritual site.
The game was developed by Tokyo RPG Factory, a company established by Square Enix. Furthermore, they employed external staff to produce other role-playing video games (RPG). The concept came from the company’s plans to redesign a game similar to the classic RPGs that were well loved by their fans in the past. The original Setsuna was announced at the 2015 Electronic Entertainment Expo as a PlayStation 4 game under the title Project Setsuna.
It is not known if the game will work the same as it does for the Nintendo Switch. However, the PS4 version allows players to control a party of characters. They are tasked to navigate environments. Even more, other spots such as towns and dungeons can be reached by going through the game’s overworld.
Gamers can talk to the villagers to know plot elements. Next, they are tasked to find treasures such as potions or healing items. These items can be bought in shops or won during battles across the game world. Meanwhile, villains are represented by icons. For instance, the icons appear in environments taunting the chosen characters in a battle.
I Am Setsuna will be released for the Nintendo Switch on March 3. It is now available on PC and PlayStation 4. Stay tuned to Video Games Republic to catch the latest on video games, tech, and more.
