NetherRealm Studios has pushed back the next character reveal for Injustice 2. This opens a lot of room for speculation just who this hero, or villain, is. Just who will join Batman’s crusade against Superman — or will this person side with the Man of Steel?
Injustice 2 is the sequel to the fighting game Injustice, created by Mortal Kombat producers NetherRealm. The new game will retain much of the elements of its predecessor, including the intriguing storyline and the brutal finishers. This certainly puts an entirely new mature angle for DC Entertainment and its characters.
However, the full character slate for Injustice 2 has not been revealed. This is why a lot of players are waiting for every character reveal for the game. After all, each character can be a potential powerhouse of abilities.
Injustice 2: Character Reveals
The delay came courtesy of NetherRealm Studios, which previously promised that a new character reveal will be up and ready for February 7. However, according to the game’s official website, the company was not able to provide any assets to promote the fresh fighter to the game’s roster. Instead, the character will be fully revealed on February 13, 2017.
The official website includes a generic polygonal framework of the character as a placeholder for the actual reveal. This is an ongoing trend for the days before the premiere of the heroes or villains in the game. Interestingly, this does confirm that the new character will be male, but sadly, not much can be learned aside from that. A representative also took to Twitter to apologize to anyone who may be upset with the situation.
Hello! The character reveal will happen next week on February 13. We apologize for any confusion this has caused!

Meanwhile, perhaps it will be helpful for fans to get refreshers to the current roster of reveals that the studio provided. According to Game Rant, Black Canary was the most recent reveal for the characters roster. The martial artist dons her usual denim attire and her signature Canary Cry scream. Prior to her reveal, there was also new footage that confirmed the addition of Batman villains Bane and Poison Ivy, as well as Superman mainstay antagonist Brainiac to the roster.
The story of the game follows that of the previous title. Superman was finally captured by Batman and his forces after he wreaked havoc across the world. In the previous game, Superman went on a rampage after the Joker killed Lois Lane. The Man of Steel finally killed the Joker and decided to put peace in his own hands.
In retaliation, Batman and the rest of the Justice League have split in a civil war, with some joining the Man of Steel and the other the Caped Crusader. The game follows this story, as well as the introduction of new villains in the form of Brainiac and Darkseid, and a morally conflicted Supergirl.
The game is set for a May 16, 2017 release for Android and iOS devices, as well as for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
