A year after it launched a rose gold variant, Apple is adding another colorway for its iPhone lineup. A new leak reveals a jet white color is coming to iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus, joining the existing color options of jet black, black, gold, rose gold and silver.
Apple has removed space gray from its color options, for the time being, replacing it with two different black finishes. The first one, as BGR notes, is a matte black color which gives the device a stealth look. However, the second one has caught the attention of the public more. Called the Jet Black, this variant features a unique glossy black finish which has mirror-like qualities.
With its new finish, Jet Black is believed to be the most desirable color for the iPhone this year but not for long. A Japan-based Apple information website revealed the tech giant might roll out a “pure white” or “jet white” version of the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus. The website cited the source as a supplier although it noted that the information could be inaccurate.
A white version of the latest iPhone has already received praises from Apple patrons. While it might not be exactly what the Jet White would look like, one Reddit user took it upon himself to refinish his old iPhone 6 with a matte white color. He didn’t go into great detail about how he did it, but he posted the finished product on the online community. As what can be seen in the photos below, the end result was outstanding.
It can be recalled that the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus were announced last September, housing an A10 Fusion quad-core chipset with a clocking speed of 2.14GHz. The former features a Retina HD display while there is an FHD display in the latter. iPhone 7 and 7 Plus come with 4.7-inch and 5.5-inch displays respectively, as well as dust and water resistance of up to 30 minutes in a depth of 1 meter.
Camera-wise, the iPhone 7 Plus sports a 12MP dual rear camera setup, one of which is a telephoto lens and the other is a wide-angle lens. Using a combination of both lenses, the device can do a 2X optical zoom, which is the hardware zoom, while it can be pushed up to 10X for software zoom.
Mirror reports the successor of the iPhone 7 series is expected to be released in the first two weeks of September next year.
