There is good news for Avengers and fans of Square Enix games such as Final Fantasy, Dragon Quest, and Kingdom Hearts. Marvel is now establishing a new cooperation with Square Enix. Square Enix and Marvel Collab
This is not the first time that Marvel has worked with video game publishers. The huge comics company has worked with Activision, Capcom and Telltale in the past. Now, Marvel will create create triple-A games from the Marvel franchises. They will be starting off with a new Avengers game 2017.
In the production of a new Avengers game 2017, Square Enix will also be developing alongside Crystal Dynamics Inc., a subsidiary of the company which developed a series of Tomb Raider games and Eidos Montreal, also owned by Square Enix Europe which developed Deus Ex: Mankind Divided. This is new because players have always seen Square Enix create Japanese role-playing games. But now, it will engage on a Western world of games. As Engadget describes, this set of developers are particularly known for the production of big and expensive action games.
Marvel revealed the subsidiary companies to Square Enix in a teaser. The teaser did not show any gameplay. But there is a suggestion that the first game will feature Avengers heroes Thor, Iron Man and Captain America. The press release by Square Enix states that “The Avengers project is being designed for gamers worldwide and will be packed with all the characters, environments, and iconic moments that have thrilled longtime fans of the franchise. Featuring a completely original story, it will introduce a universe gamers can play in for years to come.”
The Avengers will only be the first game in the Square Enix and Marvel collaboration. Square Enix says that fans should expect more information on the various future projects as the next year kicks in. Keenly watch out for their announcements.
