Norton Core Router Specs & Price: Security For Up To 20 PCs & More

The Norton Core Router has been announced by the company in recent times. The router has been targeted at smart devices for the connected home at the Las Vegas CES. This router can safeguard up to a maximum of 20 Macs, PCs and tablets.

The Norton Core Router will also be able to safeguard up to 20 Android and iOS smartphones. All these devices can be protected on a home network. Additionally, unlimited devices can be protected in case they are linked to the Internet of Things.

The Norton Core Router will keep updating firmware automatically in background mode. However, firmware on connected devices will not be tampered with as per Tech News World. This has been confirmed by the general manager of consumer IoT security at Symantec, Ameer Karim.

Other Major Functions

The major functions of the router include scanning of outgoing and incoming network packets. These will be scanned across the home network. Additionally, infected connected devices will be quarantined to a separate network. Users will also be alerted in this process.

Real time security scores will be offered for connected and network device protection. Users will also receive more tips on boosting their own security settings. There are parental controls available for this router. However, these are easily customizable.

The best part is that home devices can be managed remotely as well as per Norton by Symantec. This can be done through the connected mobile device. Additionally, cloud connectivity ensures swift password changes in case any smartphone is stolen/lost.

Touch ID and PIN attributes can also be integrated by users. Wave 2 Wi-Fi support is ensured by the router. It transmits simultaneously at 5 and 2 GHz along with using MU-MIMO technology.

Devices will also get Stellar Wi-Fi anywhere in the home. The router costs $200 and can be pre-ordered. It will start shipping in the US this summer itself.

The price includes a complimentary subscription to Norton Core Security Plus for a year. This has to be renewed for $10 annually after it expires.
