It is not just celebrities, filmmakers, musical directors, animators and basically everyone in the entertainment industry who look forward to Oscars 2017. Practically anyone who watches movies and television series wait for it to root for their favorite shows and movies but for the most part, look at the stunning clothes the celebrities are wearing.

Jimmy Kimmel confirmed to host Oscars 2017

Apart from the date of the actual awards night, the emcee for the event is also the first detail out about it. Several news outlets have published that Jimmy Kimmel will host next year’s Oscars. The 49 year old host confirmed the news on his official Twitter account.

This is not the first time Jimmy Kimmel will be hosting a prestigious awards night. In fact, Entertainment Weekly reported that he previously hosted the Primetime Emmy Awards in 2012 and 2016. He also fronted the American Music Awards.

Oscars 2017 is produced by Michael De Luca and Jennifer Todd. De Luca is known for producing American History X and The Social Network. On the other hand, BBC reported that Todd is the president of Ben Affleck and Matt Damon’s Pearl Street Films production company.

Jimmy Kimmel, ABC and the Academy Awards

Jimmy Kimmel is a US comedian popularly known because of his ABC show Jimmy Kimmel Live! He has been hosting the show since its birth in 2003. His talk show is popular for featuring celebrities, sportsmen and music artists reading insulting tweets about them. Kimmel does not only do TV as he also did some cameo appearances in Pitch Perfect 2 and Ted 2.

The Academy Awards have previously been hosted by Ellen DeGeneres, Seth MacFarlane, Neil Patrick Harris, Whoopi Goldberg and most recently Chris Rock. Last year’s Oscars did not do so well in ratings. In fact, it was the lowest television ratings the award night ever gained for the past eight years. It only averaged in 34.5 million viewers.

Jimmy Kimmel Live and the Academy Awards are both aired on ABC. Oscars 2017 is set to take place on February 26, 2017.
