The Overwatch Christmas is out this upcoming December 13, as announced by Blizzard Entertainment.
It was first posted in the official Twitter account of Blizzard Entertainment saying “You’re invited!”, with an accompanying animated gif image of an invitation that says, “It’s the most wonderful time of the year and we hope you’ll join us for some holiday cheer!” along with the date and location.
While an Overwatch Christmas event is already expected due to the nature of Blizzard Entertainment implementing seasonal patches in the game, such as during Halloween, a leak had occurred before it was even officially announced. The leak was discovered courtesy of dataminers. Since Blizzard Entertainment is scarce in providing details for the upcoming event, here is what to expect based on previous events and the leaks.
One might expect Blizzard to just add snow and Christmas on the default maps. But so far four new maps have been confirmed. So far, only one is confirmed to be a Christmas themed map. The most recent addition to maps is the Oasis map added to the PC test version a few days ago.
Spray, Voice Lines, and Victory Poses:
The leaks had confirmed that just like in Halloween, every character would receive a Christmas themed spray, as well as lines and poses.
New Costumes, emotes, and highlight intros:
The Halloween event had some of the best costumes to offer in the game. This Christmas season, those confirmed to be having one or more of the above are the following: Winston, McCree, Mei, Pharah, Zarya, Tracer, Zenyatta, Widowmaker, Reinhardt, Mercy, Symmetra, Reaper, Sombra, Roadhog, D. Va, Ana, Soldier: 76, and Lucio.
