The latest Overwatch patch has just introduced a handful of updates which includes the new Overwatch Game Browser. Today, Patch 1.8 arrived for all platforms and with the Browser, players are able to create their dream custom game.
Blizzard announced a new way to personalize your gaming experience. The Overwatch Game Browser allows custom gametypes. The choices offered by the browser are endless and range from preset Brawl types to specific details like a player’s speed and abilities. The announcement reveals that users now have autonomy when it comes to changing rules and playgrounds.
The Game Browser has a master key that unlocks a “tailor-made” experience. Per the official release, “The Game Browser is an extension of the title’s Custom Game mode that gives you the power to create your own games, change the rules, and make your creations accessible to a much wider range of players. It also gives fellow players the tools to find your games and participate.”
Areas you can adjust include game modes, hero abilities, movement speed, health, and damage, to name a few. Then, once the settings are good to go, players can open the game to anyone from your region.
How Does It Work?
Once you’ve finalized your settings and you’re ready to launch the game, the next step is setting up permissions. You can choose between the option “Friends Only” or “Invite Only” and for those who want to test, you can set the server to “Public” as well.
As an alternative, rather than making your own playset, you can head to the Arcade menu and find a game. You will be provided a list of curated games which won’t email any matchmaking. You can narrow down the search by using specific keywords or filtering the list by mode, map or hero. Select what interests you and start playing.
Other Patch Upgrades
Aside from the custom browser, there are other upgrades to look out for. What are the other features which have been added? Mashable notes that a new Capture The Flag mode with never before seen maps are included while hero upgrades are also introduced.
