2017 marks the series’ 21st anniversary since the first batch of Pokemon games released in 1996. Pokemon Red, Green and Yellow grew from being Gameboy titles into a solid franchise. It now has over ten games and over 700 creatures to collect, all in the name of being the “very best.” Now, Pokemon Go, along with newcomers Pokemon Sun and Moon, are proof that the franchise is as strong as ever.
The Pokemon Company seems to want to return the favor to fans as well. Gamers who celebrate #PokemonDay in Pokemon Go will get rewarded. Below are the various freebies that will come with the occasion, both in the mobile game and in other titles.

Perhaps the most exciting tease shows Pikachus wearing special party hats. This is the second iteration of the “Pikachu with Hats” series, starting with the Christmas hat Pikachu variation. According to the Pokemon website, these special Anniversary Pikachu will have their hats forever, so make sure to catch as many as you want.
