Pokemon GO Mewtwo Event In Japan To Coincide With Gym Rework [Report]

Niantic Labs is planning an exclusive Pokemon GO event that will spawn the Legendary Pokemon, Mewtwo. The said event will take place in Tsuruma Park in Nagoya, Japan sometime in 2017 alongside the Gym rework.

The Mewtwo raid event will have a time limit of 10 minutes where any number of people can join. Niantic Labs have chosen Tsuruma Park since it is much safer than the busy streets of Times Square, New York City. Tsuruma Park became a “sacred ground” for Pokemon GO because of its resemblance with a Pokeball.

It is advised that trainers should start gathering Pokeballs as Mewtwo would be difficult to catch. Since there is no Master Ball yet, Ultra Balls would be the most effective to use. Berries would not also work on Mewtwo. Trainers have to make sure that they do not knock Mewtwo out completely so that they could catch him.

Police Dressed as Officer Jenny & Medics as Nurse Joys

Players have already gathered before at the Tsuruma Park. A previous tweet revealed how the park withstood a large crowd because of many rare Pokemon spawning there. Previous spawns include Blastoise, Venusaur, Gyarados, and Dragonite, in some occasions.  Although people often run the park to catch those rare Pokemon, nobody gets injured.

Niantic Labs might even work with local law enforcement if they plan on starting an event. This will ensure that everything will be organized and that nobody will get hurt. Niantic Labs could also give the local law enforcement officers Officer Jenny uniforms to really get the feeling of the game. They could also dress up the K9 dogs as Growlithes and the medics as Nurse Joys.

Niantic Labs CEO John Hanke previously said that Legendary Pokemon will come out in 2017. Pokemon also just recently celebrated its 21st anniversary this year and Pokemon GO released a festive Pikachu to commemorate the occasion. “I can safely say we’ll see more of it [Legendary Pokemon] this year,” said Hanke.

Pokemon: The First Movie featured the debut of Mewtwo and Mew so it is just right that Niantic Labs would release Mewtwo as the first Legendary Pokemon in Pokemon GO. Developers also teased in the first Pokemon GO trailer a Pokemon raid event where players have to work together to defeat and capture Mewtwo. Here’s the main source for the Mewtwo event that’s about to happen in Pokemon GO.
