Gyarados is now lurking in the world of Pokémon Sun and Pokémon Moon. Trainers are actively searching high and low, hoping to capture one of the strongest Pokémon in the Pokedex. Here is a comprehensive Pokemon Sun and Moon guide on how to catch the serpent-like creature in the game.
It is essential to gather all energy in searching for Magikarp in order to catch Gyarados. The fish is relatively easy to find at every island in the game. It spawns in Melemele Meadow, Kala’e Bay, and Melemele Sea.
In Akala Island, Magikarp can be caught easily in Paniola Town, and in Routes 5, 7, 8 and 9. If players already reached Ula’ula Island, they can find it in Malie Garden, the Secluded Shore and Routes 13, 14 and 15. It can also be seen in Seafolk Village, Poni Wilds, Poni Guantlet, Poni Breaker Coast, Ancient Poni Path, and Poni Plains once they’ve reached Poni Island.
Once in the area, players just need to take out their fishing rod, wait for Magikarp to eat the bait, and then reel the fish out of the water. There is a possibility of catching a Shiny version of Magikarp in the habitat, specially in SOS battles. However, any type of this creature will increase the chances of catching Gyarados.
Here’s the ultimate Pokemon Sun and Moon guide on how to make the serpent appear. It is important to make Magikarp ask for help in order to make this work. To activate the distress call, use a Pokémon that has the False Swipe technique in order to drain the hit points (HP) down to one. Once the HP’s drained, a Pokémon will appear to help. There is a possibility that Gyarados will not show up on the first attempt, so just do the steps over and over until it appears.
