Pokemon Sun And Moon Second Global Mission To Utilize Island Scan

Pokemon Sun and Moon released its first Global Mission last month where players were tasked to capture 100 million Pokemon from November 29 to December 13. However, only 16.5 million creatures in total were captured.

Another Global Mission will be starting soon, probably due to the frustration and failure caused by the first mission. But in this new mission, the number of Pokemon is now lowered to a more realistic number which is 1 million.

Sun and Moon Second Global Mission

As previously done by Nintendo, this present Sun and Moon Global Mission will also ask players to either capture or defeat Pokemon, but only 1 million of them this time, as per Serebii. But the distinction between the first and second Global Mission is that the second one will feature the Island Scan function.

If the goal is reached, players will be receiving 2,017 Festival Coins as a reward. However, they will still get 217 Festival Coins even if the goal is not achieved. It is also an advantage if the game is connected to a Global Link account because trainers can double up the amount of Festival Coins they obtain, totaling to 4,034 or 434 Festival Coins.

Island Scan

The Island Scan will “scan” the island you are currently on for any Pokemon. When you earn 100 Points from scanning QR Codes in the game, the Island Scan may now be used. Players must press the R button to scan. Each QR Scan is worth 10 points.

Players will have an hour to find these Pokemon when the Island Scan gets activated. These Pokemon are not from the Alola region Pokedex. Instead, they include the starters from Johto and Unova. Each Pokemon is located at a specific area. Pokemon change each day and appear only on a specific day. These Pokemon do not activate Battles. They are special because they have one of their Egg Moves. When the Pokemon appears in the grass, capture it and the Island Scan will then stop to deactivate.

The Global Mission begins on December 27 at 4:00 Coordinated Universal Time (UTC). The mission will run through January 9, 23:59 UTC.

Pokemon Sun and Moon is available for Nintendo 3DS.
