Polaroid is already 8 decades long. Even though it has lasted this long, there were times when the company nearly reached shutdown when it failed to adapt to the changing revolution of digital photography. With this, Polaroid CEO Scott Hardy told Cult of Mac that they are “addressing a whole new set of customers.”

Thus, it has come up with a new digital camera for its 80th anniversary which was shown off at CES 2017. You will be surprised with its instant print outs because it brings back the company’s iconic style. “Sometimes to look forward, you have to look to the past,” Scott said. This inspired them to create the nostalgic device called Polaroid Pop. The camera combines digital and physical photography.

The Pop was designed by Ammunition Group who created Polaroid Snap, Zip and Cube and Apple’s Beats Pill last year. It has a jet-black camera body with a pop of color. The red shutter button is an easy-to-use one-button shutter control for capturing photos. The camera is a 3.97-inch LCD which has been made into touchscreen.

Polaroid has created some different print outs that wile away from their original ones in the past. Now, with the sleek and colorful Polaroid Pop, they are taking back the square instant photos. The instant photo is a 3.5 x 4.25-inch quite similar to what people had back then.

The printing runs on a Zero Ink Printing Technology so it would not be needing ink to print images. Rather, this digital camera uses heat to activate the dyes in the photo paper.

The Polaroid Pop has a 20-megapixel CMOS sensor inside. It has a dual-LED flash and image stabilization technology. It is also capable of a whopping 1080p video recording. For more photos, it offers a microSD slot that can support up to 128GB.

The camera also meets the necessities of today’s people because it has Wi-Fi and Bluetooth capabilities which could help transfer photos to your phone or any other device. This will also allow instant printing from your camera roll.

Polaroid has not yet determined the price for the Polaroid Pop. It may be released in the fourth quarter of the year just in time for holiday shopping season. This camera may be the best choice for people who prefer vintage types such as the old Polaroids.
