Qualcomm revealed new products at the Consumer Electronics Show last Tuesday.
Qualcomm Snapdragon 835
The Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor is the tech giant’s new high-end chip for smartphones, and for other groundbreaking technology in the market today. The processor is relatively smaller, but it provides faster internet connectivity. Furthermore, it is packed with a more efficient power structure sufficient for next generation gadgets.
The company revealed that the 835 processor will be perfect for Android and Microsoft Windows Operating System. In addition, they are aiming to power upcoming smartglasses. The technology is announced by Osterhout Design Group targeting consumers.

Smartglasses are starting to create their niche in the market today. Furthermore, Google and Microsoft are among the first to cater to the building demand on this type of product. The glasses allow its users to interact with the world while looking at virtual objects seen in the virtual environment.
The Osterhout Design Group will be releasing two smartglasses. In addition, the company revealed that Qualcomm’s new technology will help create better visuals and performance for their products. The smartglasses are set to be released in July.
Qualcomm Snapdragon For Cars
Meanwhile, Qualcomm widens its reach by fusing their chips in cars. Their LTE modems and processors will be embedded in Volkswagen cars. This move will allow the cars to connect to cellular networks, just like smartphones.
Furthermore, the company also aims to power the vehicles with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820A processor in 2019.
Qualcomm will be offering LTE chips for other cars so it can access the internet as well. The LTE chip will be available for other car manufacturers in 2017.
Intel is also looking into fulfilling the demand in the connected car niche. They can do repairs through the information sent by the car. This can also be a step towards self-driving cars in the future.
The price of the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 is still unknown. However, the small size, lengthy battery life, and phenomenal horsepower that it contains may equate to a hefty price tag. It is quite exciting to see what the technology will bring to next generation cars and smartglasses.
