Tequilla Works has just announced the Rime game release date. The upcoming puzzle adventure game will launch for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC on May 26. Likewise, a Nintendo Switch version will arrive sometime this Summer.
Rime Video Game: Things To Expect
The video game centers around a boy shipwrecked on a mysterious island. Moreover, in the single-player game, players maneuver the island “by making use of light, sound, perspective and even time.” Meanwhile, players solve puzzles by making animals stand on certain items to progress. Below are things players should know and expect from the title:
- Use Your Senses- Firstly, the game is very colorful with musical undertones. As mentioned, it makes use of “light, sound, perspective, and time.” This makes the game unique – Rime has been likened to a number of games which include The Legend of Zelda: Windwalker and Ico.
- Enchanting Adventure- Secondly, Dual Shockers noted that the goal of Rime is to “create an enchanting and engaging world.” One that can be appreciated with childlike abandon.
- Narrative- PlayStation Blog reports that there are a lot of layers to the game. Its narrative is delivered through visuals and music. This holds a lot of potential as players can discover the truth for themselves – it’s a personal experience.
- Pricing- Lastly, for gamers who are interested in getting the game, the title will cost $29.99/€34.99/£29.99 for the retail and digital iterations. The Rime game on Switch will follow with a price tag of $39.99/€44.99 /£39.99. The Switch version is notably more expensive than that of the other consoles.
Explaining the price variation, Greybox spoke to Gematsu. “We set prices for our products based on the costs of development and publishing for each specific platform,” explained the statement.
Rime: A Rocky Development
The Rime game was first announced in 2013 and was going to be a PS4 exclusive with Sony publishing. Unfortunately, plans changed and eventually, the company reacquired rights to the title. Given all of the issues that surrounded the game’s development cycle, there were times the game was in danger of being cancelled.
According to the game’s creative director Raul Rubio to IGN, “There were a lot of moments where we thought that the game wasn’t going to be released.”
In conclusion, it appears the team has rallied and everything has come to pass. The game will debut on May 26. Are you getting the game? Let us know what you think in the comments section below!
