Samsung Galaxy S7 Specs & News: Here’s How Android Nougat Update Works

An early Christmas gift came to Samsung Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge Beta Program members as the fourth major Android Nougat update has now been rolled out. Find out what is in store for the users in this newly released update.

Bug Fixes and Improvements

Most Samsung Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge users agree that the previous update had a lot of bugs. The fourth Android Nougat beta update sees to fix these. However, the changelog did not mention anything about longstanding bugs that are affecting beta users.

According to a report by Android Central, Wi-Fi Connectivity issues and delays in the activation of the screen were not written on the changelog. It is not clear if these were fixed or just not included in the update.

Samsung Notes removed from pre-installed apps

The removal of Samsung Notes in the pre-installed apps is probably the biggest change the Android Nougat update has for Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge beta members. Although no longer part of the initial apps, it can still be downloaded from Google Play and Galaxy Apps store. Downloading it will not be a problem since Samsung Notes recently got an update to support Android Nougat.

Users are advised to make a back up before installing the fourth Android Nougat update. Since Samsung Notes is no longer part of the pre-installed apps, the new firmware will erase all data upon deleting it. However, Tech Times reported a case that Samsung Notes remained even after the update. But since it may vary per device, it is better to make a back up than risking losing data.

Samsung Experience Name removed

This is more of a “superficial” change included in the Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge Android Nougat update. The device will no longer have the Samsung Experience name in the About Device section in the Settings menu. It does not mean anything significant other than Samsung may change the official name for the UX.

Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge beta program members will get a notification about the fourth Android Nougat update as it will be rolling out over the air. But if in any case that the notification was not received, users can manually install the update in the phone’s Settings menu.
