Samsung is getting the game on with the company’s first full-on gaming laptop, the new Samsung Notebook Odyssey. The newest addition to the tech line of the South Korean company will be introduced during this year’s CES tradeshow.
The newest Samsung Notebook Odyssey has some specs that particularly target the gamers market.
The Notebook Odyssey is available in both 15 and 17-inch sizes. They have 7th-gen Intel i7 processors. The 15-inch version has an NVIDIA GTX1050 of either 4GB or 2GB version. This means that the laptop gives high details and full HD resolution. But it is not that ideal for VR (virtual reality). However, the 17-inch model’s GPU is yet to be announced thought it is expected to have an NVIDIA 1070 or 1080 which are better specs for VR gaming. The 17-inch version has a memory expandable up to 64GB. Storage can be up to 512 GB SSD and a 1TB HDD. This is ideal for users who have a lot of games in mind.
Both systems have a standard 1,920 x 1,080 screen resolutions and they have anti-glare screens which are really useful when gamers play for hours.
The design for the Odyssey series is very minimalist. The Samsung Notebook Odyssey set has a red-backlit keyboard on the 15-inch type and a multicolored keyboard on the 17-inch laptop. There is a bold backlit icon on the back and an angular decorative outline surrounding the touchpad.
These gaming laptops are made up of hollow plastic. The top lid of the 17-inch Odyssey and its keyboard has flexibility due to the plastic material. The Notebook Odyssey 15 weighs 5.5 pounds. Meanwhile, the Notebook Odyssey 17 weighs 8.3 pounds. They are reasonably light for their size because of their plastic material.
The Odyssey 17 also has a “Beast Mode” button above its keyboard. The function of this button is to turn on the maximum performance mode in the laptop’s software. There is a unique “HexaFlow Vent” underneath the laptop which helps airflow around the machine which is suitable for long hours of gaming.
Price and Release Date
The Samsung Notebook Odyssey 15 is set for release on February 15 for a cost of $1,199. On the other hand, the Notebook Odyssey 17 neither has a price nor a release date yet. It is expected to be announced on the spring this year.
Samsung will show off the Notebook Odyssey from January 5 to 8 at Booth #15006 in LVCC, Level 1, Central Hall during the tradeshow.
