Shadow Of War Leaks As Sequel To Shadow Of Mordor

NeoGAF member DeathByBacklog has discovered the sequel to Middle-earth: Shadow Of Mordor on Target’s website. Target accidentally listed Middle-earth: Shadow Of War on their website six months before its release date. The retail giant had already taken down the premature listing of the game, but fans managed to take a screen shot of the listing prior to its disappearance.

According to the listing, the Shadow Of Mordor’s sequel will bring back the classic Nemesis System from the old game. Furthermore, the sequel will focus on the continuation of the story of Talion and Celebrimbor. Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment will also bring back Monolith Productions as the developers of the follow-up.

Shadow Of War to Include Gold Edition

In the sequel, both Talion and Celebrimbor have to work together to forge a Ring of Power they can use against Sauron. According to IGN, the listing mentioned a US$100 Gold Edition that will include two Nemesis Expansions, two story expansions, and a “Gold War Chest.” The Nemesis Expansions will introduce new tribes, enemies, and missions while the story expansions will include new campaigns and characters.

According to GameSpot, the sequel will come out for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, but that does not mean that it would not come out for the PC. Since the previous Middle-earth: Shadow Of Mordor came out on the PC, fans expect the same for its sequel. The listing revealed the Gold Edition of the game will include the following:

  • Slaughter Tribe Nemesis Expansion
  • Outlaw Tribe Nemesis Expansion
  • The Blade of Galadriel Story Expansion
  • The Desolation of Mordor Story Expansion
  • Gold War Chest
  • Over $125 in total value

Shadow Of War to Return Prequel’s Protagonist

Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment released Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor in 2014 where it featured the events between The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings. Players take control of Talion who died because of the Black Hand of Sauron who had merged with Celebrimbor. Both had to work together in order to avenge the death of their loved ones.

Developer Monolith Productions will be bringing back Talion and Celebrimbor after they destroyed Sauron’s physical form in the first game. Since Sauron’s spirit still lives, the two have to find a way to forge a new Ring of Power that can finally destroy their enemy. The duo has to travel Tolkien’s Legendarium in order to discover the materials they need to fulfill their quest.
