Star Wars Battlefront 2 is a first- and third-person shooter game. DICE, Criterion and Motive will work together to develop the game so that it will be played by old-timer Star Wars fans as well as the beginners. The game will have a proper story mode.
Electronic Art Inc. (EA), on its website, made known that the team of EA DICE has “shifted its focus to creating the next great Star Wars game.” Star Wars Battlefront 2 will be the result of a collaborative effort between three world-class developing studios: Criterion Games which was responsible for plenty of Need For Speed titles, EA’s recently established Motive Studios, and of course, EA’s very own DICE. EA announced that they will release the game this holiday season and will feature a full single-player campaign. This suggests greater involvement and improvements.
Proper Story Mode
Star Wars Battle Front 2 will occur in multiple eras of the Star Wars series contradictory to the original trilogy-focused story. This means that a prequel may also be in the works as reported by Eurogamer. Andrew Wilson, EA’s CEO since 2013, said in an earnings call that “Our next Star Wars Battlefront will be even bigger, taking players into more locations and allowing them to play with more heroes and characters across multiple Star Wars eras.”
EA will introduce new gameplay. Wilson said that “There will be new ways to play, including an all new single-player campaign and much, much more that we are excited to share with our players in the months ahead.” There will also be plenty of new playable heroes and characters. The game will also consist of new game mechanics, maps and missions.
For this game’s version, players will experience a deeper and progressive narrative-based gameplay. This is especially when it comes to the multiplayer mode of the game.
The game previously received a lot of criticism. “But it was also a game where people asked for a lot more, and a lot more depth and a lot more of the greatness of the game kind of embodied,” Wilson claimed. The game lacked campaigns and it launched with only a few collection of maps. The lack of content disappointed the players.
EA looks forward to “sharing more” at a later time. They are also thankful for the support given to them. The game will be released autumn or during the holiday season this year.
