Get your Steam games wishlist ready. It appears some older titles in the gaming library have been removed. Is your favorite game included?
It appears quite a lot of Activision’s licensed games cannot be bought on a lot of digital storefronts this week. This means games such as Spider-Man and the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles cannot be bought in Steam, the Xbox and PlayStation Stores and even eShop.
These reports have arrived after news that The Amazing Spider-Man and The Amazing Spider Man 2 are no longer in steam. However, it appears there’s more to it than that.
Steam Games: Amazing Spider-Man, TMNT Out?!
There is no statement from Activision about the removals of the games. There is also a lack of any official announcements yet. According to GameSpot, a response has been requested from the company, but no response has been received as of yet.
Some games have already experienced going out of the fray in the past. According to GameSpot, there are even some Activision games in the list. However, the disappearance of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles is a bit surprising. The game’s reception, although lukewarm, is still a bit positive. The game was also just released in May 2016.
Where to go from Here?
The Amazing Spider-Man and its sequel, in comparison, were released in 2012 and 2014. Games like these are commonly delisted due to the expiration of licensing agreements, but this still seems a bit rushed.
If you bought the games previously, they are still playable. Physical copies of the games are also still in circulation. If anything changes in digital availability, then it appears these games can only be played via physical copies.
It may be important to keep an eye out of your favorite games, especially older ones, on online stores. Until Activision makes a statement, there may be games that will be removed from its roster in the coming weeks.
