The existence of The Elder Scrolls 6 has been confirmed by Bethesda, however the release date has been delayed for various reasons.
Originally, it started out as mere speculations and rumors, until Mr. Todd Howard, Bethesda Game Studios Game Director, confirmed the game during the live E3 stream a few months ago.
The good news from months ago is now being overshadowed by a looming threat; the release date for the game has been confirmed to become delayed.
Skyrim to blame for The Elder Scrolls 6 delay
The 6th game got delayed as if it “took an arrow to the knee”. The primary reason for causing the delay of the release of the game is none other than its own predecessor, The Elder Scrolls 5 Skyrim. Skyrim is actually the one that brought The Elder Scrolls series to mainstream popularity.
Since Skyrim is still going strong, Bethesda would focus for now on fixing bugs and performance issues in the remastered version of Skyrim.
At least, the issues encountered in Skyrim right now being addressed would mean an expected stable release for its sequel.
A similar case had happened with Diablo 3 getting in the way of its sequel. Cases like this appear to be turning into a recent trend, especially in the case of RPG’s and fighting games. DLC’s and patches eliminate the need for the release of a new game, especially if the game is still popular.
Fallout 5 another factor for the delay
The Fallout fandom is also to blame for the delay of the 6th Elder Scrolls. Fallout 4 VR and Fallout 5 are generating more enthusiastic feedback from players, causing Bethesda to focus more on the series first, as reported in Game N Guide.
