Champions, get your fingers ready. Capcom has just revealed the release date for Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3. The hit game will finally hit shelves for the PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One platforms in a few months.
This is good news for fighting game fans that wanted a breath of fresh air from Street Fighter V. New entrants such as Tekken 7 and Marvel vs Capcom Infinite can standby for now. Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3 is arriving, and fans just cannot wait.
The critically-acclaimed fighting game is a good precursor to Marvel vs Capcom Infinite. After all, Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3 may very well be the last game in the franchise for now to use classic mechanics. Marvel vs Capcom Infinite will introduce a ton of changes to fans, which means the former will be a good dose of nostalgia to fighting game enthusiasts.
Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3: When?
The news arrived courtesy of Capcom’s blog. Fans will be able to get the game for the Xbox One and PC on March 7 digitally for $25. This is the same price as the PlayStation 4 version that was released in December last year. However, fans will want to know that the game will also have physical editions for the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 on the same date.
GameStop will be releasing this as a $30 “limited edition” with updated cover art. It will also have a 10-page comic book that “tells the story of two colliding universes.” It will have art of Marvel artists Sean Chen and Gerardo Sandoval, making it feel like an actual comic book.
Interested fans can pre-order a copy now through GameStop in the US, and via Canada’s EB Games. According to Game Rant, however, neither retailer nor Capcom has released details about the number of units available. This means fans ought to reserve this as soon as possible.
Making Way for the New
It can be remembered that fans were absolutely stunned to see its appearance last PlayStation Experience 2016. This is why a lot of enthusiasts grabbed their PlayStation 4 copies as soon as December dropped. However, a notion of a physical release is also tempting as it is.
The game’s appearance on current generation platforms is a good thing, especially for classic fans. Marvel vs Capcom Infinite is currently at the crosshairs of fans for its updated mechanics. The latter will have revamped combat mechanics and 2-on-2 tag teams.
This means Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3 is the most updated game in current generation consoles to keep the classic 3-on-3 format with special skill sets. The game should be a good-enough buffer before Infinity launches.
