Ultra Street Fighter 2: The Final Challengers is an upcoming fighting game by Capcom specifically intended for the Nintendo Switch console. It is an updated and new version of the 1994 Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo. The game has a classic mix of old-school pixel art graphic and updated high-definition graphics previously featured in Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo HD Remix. New gameplay mechanics and modes such as a first-person mode have been introduced.
Ultra Street Fighter 2 has local and online multiplayer games. The online multiplayer mode bases the ranking on points and on wins and losses. Online players can also challenge others in a “standby” mode within the arcade mode. They can also take the place of the Computer Processing Unit (CPU) opponent that normally appears in arcades. A “Buddy Battle” has also been added in the game. This mode enables players to make teams of two versus one CPU player. The game also has a one-hit knockout mode. In recent updates, the game also has a first-person mode now.
Fans saw in the Ultra Street Fighter 2 trailer that the new Switch version of Capcom’s versus brawler game will have a first-person mode. Furthermore, images from the game are making its way. This was seen by Nintendo Everything.
The first-person mode is called “Unleash! Ha”DO”ken.” It will be used with the Nintendo Switch Joy-Con controllers in a first person point of view. “DO” is placed in English letters in the title because a motion-controlled mode used by the player is “doing” what the character actually does using the Joy-Con.
The screenshot on the game’s Japanese box arts as taken by Nintendo Everything has a timer and shows plenty of Shadaloo Soldier opponents. This means the Street Fighter will bring in something different than the usual. It will be a time-based and combo-scored fight. This is just a speculation but it is a mode where a player uses the Joy-Con to shoot hadouken or “fireballs,” a special attack by Ryu, Ken, and other characters in the game.
Aside from this news, the game will also have an art gallery wherein players can choose to check over 250 pages of art. The game will also have new two playable characters – Evil Ryu and Violent Ken. Capcom has not revealed a release date yet but they did say that they want it to come out earlier. Expect the game to come after the Nintendo Switch is released this March.
