[Watch] Dark Souls 3 DLC Trailer Reveals March 28 Release Date

The third and final downloadable content (DLC) pack for Dark Souls 3 takes players to an entirely new experience. Hints indicate a slate of new features, add-ons and weapons. However, is it worth it?

The new Dark Souls 3 DLC titled The Ringed City takes players to a rather sinister tale. Players immediately get a sense of foreboding as the trailer appears. This is very fitting for a final update for the world-renowned game.

Dark Souls 3 is already an unforgiving game for players, which made it extremely popular. However, just how far will The Ringed City will take the game? Read more to find out.

Dark Souls 3: New Content, Features

The latest DLC continues the tradition of dread that came with the rest of the Dark Souls games. However, this new DLC takes it up a notch. The Ringed City is the last DLC for the latest Dark Souls game. If the synopsis is any indication, then it may even be the final chapter in the entire series.

The trailer, courtesy of Bandai Namco Entertainment America, shows a release date of March 28 for the DLC. However, the trailer itself is as foreboding as it could get. The trailer already generates a dark and brooding atmosphere for players. The choral music is spot on as a narrator describes a city that is found at the world’s end.

Players will be finding themselves navigating ruined and desolate landscapes. However, they are not going through this alone. Players will find themselves constantly facing monsters, constantly testing their might.

Last Update?

Interestingly enough, Game Rant said the trailer gives snapshots of new spells and weapons the characters could wield. A possible final boss is a huge winged gargoyle that is surrounded by flames. The intensity of every moment captured in the trailer is branded with a signature Dark Souls brand.

The game’s website also offers a bit of an explanation for the update itself. The DLC is set at the end of the Age of Fire as lands “converge” upon themselves. The player, the hero, descends into “the madness of the earth” as he tries to uncover the secrets of the past.

The game itself will cost $14.99, unless they have season passes. This marks the DLC as the most recent update after Ashes of Ariandel, which was released three months back. Given that this is the last DLC for the game, the future of Dark Souls is bleak at best. However, fans are still expecting that spinoffs like Bloodborne will be able to keep up with the appeal of the story.
