Ubisoft has teased the upcoming release of Ghost Recon Wildlands with quite an exciting twist. Players can view a live-action trailer for the game, which revealed a lot about the game’s overall story. Interestingly, this is proof yet again as to how unique Ubisoft tackles its games.
Aside from Ghost Recon Wildlands, it can be remembered that Ubisoft has quite the unique marketing strategy for its games. For instance, they sponsored special hacking-related events for the release of Watch Dogs 2. The Ghost Recon game is the latest to experience this unique treatment as one of Ubisoft’s most enduring franchises.
Ghost Recon Wildlands is the latest game in the Ghost Recon franchise. It is set in the tropical suburbs, where players are tasked to track down a drug cartel. The game features a wide variety of customization options, as well as a dynamic area that can affect their missions.
Ghost Recon Wildlands: Live Action Prequel
The Ghost Recon trailer features quite the Rambo-esque setting. There are helicopter shots of a Bolivian jungle and cityscapes. The trailer also has armed men and women patrolling the vicinity, alongside quips on allegiances and territories.
According to PC Gamer, the trailer unfortunately does not have gameplay footage with it. This can disappoint fans who are looking for more screen-time with the game they are supposed to buy. However, the intensity of the trailer proves just how different the game is from other PC games.
If the trailer is any indication, and if the characters will be present in the game, then the new Ghost Recon game will have a rich story. The fact that the cartel itself is riddled with conspiracy is a big heads up for twists and turns in allegiances. However, it may be interesting to speculate that a live-action trailer featuring protagonists may be created in the future. Of course, it will only be a matter of time if ever Ubisoft does release one.
On the Story, Gameplay
Sadly, not much is known about the full story of the latest Ghost Recon game. However, some have shared thoughts after playing the game’s beta. Kotaku notes that the game is set in Bolivia, with an open world where players can navigate with three artificial intelligence (AI) bots or friends of their own.
They are operatives dispatched on an off-the-books campaign against a collection of American drug cartels. The game is yet another title within the Tom Clancy line of military-themed games from the company. Gamers can take note of quite the large map that was used in the beta, which means an immensely larger map can be seen in the full game.
The upcoming title may also be the best example of Ubisoft using the best of its open-world design rules. This means players of Far Cry 4, The Division and Ghost Recon: Future Soldier can find familiar elements with the game design. Players can navigate the open world in its entirely, which is based on a real-world location. This means they can freely engage in combat wherever they are, with a variety of tools.
Players are also expected to find collectibles all around the map as well. The customization options in the game are astounding, as there are a ton of skills and abilities to unlock. There are also a lot of challenges for players to accomplish throughout the game. This means while Wildlands is not the “best” Ghost Recon game, it certainly can become one of the most jam-packed in content.
