[Watch] HTC Vive Smartphone Hinted In New Video: How It Could Work

The HTC Vive is one of the most popular VR (virtual reality) headsets available these days. However, rumors have sprung up about a Vive branded smartphone from the company. A leaked video showcases the same amidst several other clues.

The HTC Vive video runs for around 90 seconds. The video contains several clues and vital words. It basically aims at delineating the message that phones should be as expressive as their owners.

The Vive video shows a phone case which looks quite fancy indeed. The video draws on combinations which are unique. There is also mention of risking it for enjoying the unexpected. A new device is shown at the end and this sports Vive branding at the back.

What Else Do We Know

GSM Arena reports that this has sparked widespread rumors about a 2017 release. People are now speculating on a possible Vive smartphone. The device could be shown by HTC at the 2017 Mobile World Congress.

Mashable India also confirms how an HTC promotional video has this little clue present. This video leaked on Twitter courtesy Evan Blass. @evleaks is the man behind this fabulous discovery.

HTC has officially announced new VR sensor pucks last week. However, a VR smartphone will eventually be a major hit for the company. It would definitely encourage widespread VR integration.

Will this work?

The Samsung Gear VR has already outstripped the Vive, Oculus Rift and PlayStation VR in terms of sales. This points at the demand for such devices which require smartphones to function fully. The HTC video hints at surprises in store for the 12th January event of the company.

HTC has not yet issued any official statements regarding this video. However, a VR compatible smartphone may be another winner globally. It can also put the Google Daydream View and Samsung Gear VR to the sword. The Pixel mobile VR environment will also be threatened by any such move.
