It’s time for girl power in Injustice 2 as NetherRealm studios revealed a powerhouse of new playable characters in the game. This pushes the game’s overall roster up a notch as the the title explores more villains from the DC Universe. It’s time for the ladies.
This appears to immediately compensate for the fact that the arrival of Swamp Thing for the game was delayed for a week. Injustice 2 does what it does best and treats fans with a showcase of the four femme fatale’s abilities. None of them are pushovers either.
The new Injustice 2 trailer reveals the arrival of Catwoman, Cheetah, Poison Ivy and Black Canary. While the latter had already been confirmed in her trailer, the former three were not given the same treatment. This immediately confirms the appearance of four female characters in the game that were not in the original trailer.
Injustice 2: Girl Power Represent
This is courtesy of a new trailer from Warner Bros. Entertainment. The video showcases the abilities of the four women, all powerhouses in their own right. It will be interesting to see just how the four characters will impact the overall story of the game.
Black Canary, the first to be introduced, is known to be a staple Green Arrow character. Dinah Lance is the wife of Oliver Queen in his many iterations, however it was not confirmed if such an association exists in the game. She is a versatile martial artist. Her best weapon is her fearsome Canary Cry, which is a supersonic scream capable of immobilizing opponents.
According to IGN, the trailer also confirms the appearance of Poison Ivy as a playable character. She was previously teased in the official story trailer but not confirmed as a playable member of the roster. This was why it was vital to differentiate between Ivy and the Swamp Thing. Unlike the latter which is a force of nature, Ivy only has basic control of plant life around her.
Other Characters, Updates
The next to be revealed was Cheetah, a staple villain from the Wonder Woman franchise. She is one of her longest adversaries, and for good reason. She has the qualities of a cheetah, and its ferociousness. Cheetah is fast, agile and not afraid to use her claws in a fight.
Catwoman was also confirmed to be another playable character. Like Ivy, she is a staple member of the Batman rogues gallery. She is a master thief and has an affinity for cats. Her agility and sense of humor make her one of Batman’s most elusive opponents. She is also sometimes an unlikely ally for the Caped Crusader.
According to Polygon, not much was revealed about the next character to be revealed in the game. The confirmation of Swamp Thing affirms the fact that NetherRealm is not afraid to add mystic figures and elements of nature in the game. It will be interesting to see just how the game will spice things up when mortals are set up against gods.
The game will be launching for the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 on May 16. There will also be a mobile version of the game to be available soon.
