The Protector of the Green is arriving in Injustice 2. Swamp Thing has been officially revealed as the next character in the game’s roster. This poses some interesting dynamic as this is the first time an elemental entity was added in the game.
It can be remembered that Swamp thing is the protector of the “Green,” or all things in nature. His Injustice 2 arrival will more or less see the usage of plants, bushes and other natural elements to his disposal. However, if his trailer is any indication, his abilities are far more versatile.
Injustice 2 is the sequel of the hit fighting game courtesy of NetherRealm Studios. The game will have various characters from the DC Entertainment universe fight against one another. It will be interesting to see just what Swamp Thing has to offer.
New Features, Updates
It appears that Swamp Thing is no pushover. His build and bulk allow him to dish out damage quickly, albeit at the cost of a bit of speed. He has a massive arsenal of combos and brutal moves. Interestingly, he even has the ability to grow branches to push opponents, duplicate himself, and even sink to avoid attacks.
According to Game Rant, Swamp Thing’s reveal was short but sweet. This adds yet another powerhouse to the roster of characters in the game. The addition of Swamp Thing can be a breath of fresh air to players as much of the characters revealed so far are speed types, like Black Canary. According to Polygon, Swamp Thing will join the likes of Bane and Superman as heavy-hitters, using their massive strength against opponents.
Fans may still be excited to know that character reveals may arrive in the next few weeks as well. This is because the release date for the game is still on May 16, 2017 for the Xbox One and PlayStation 4, and mobile devices. The story appears to involve Brainiac and Darkseid, two of the most powerful forces in the DC Universe. However, no one knows their role yet.
Injustice 2: Protector of the Green
This reveal was courtesy of a trailer in IGN First. The developers have decided to make Swamp Thing’s reveal a fight between him and Damian Wayne, the son of Batman. Interestingly enough, when they trade dialogue, Swamp Thing mentions Ra’s al Ghul, the grandfather of Damian. This may hint towards a deeper plot at work.
It can be remembered that the game’s story will still force villains and heroes from the DC Universe to either side with Batman or with Superman. The latter is on an onslaught for global domination after the death of Lois Lane. Meanwhile, Batman will be doing his utmost to stop his friend.
Seeing that Swamp Thing is mostly concerned about the Green, it will be interesting to see his dynamic with other characters. This is especially since not a lot of characters in the DC Universe in general got to interact with him. His abilities in the comics make him an extremely powerful force of nature.
