If you’re into superheroes fighting, then Injustice 2 is for you. DC and NetherRealm have just unveiled the trailer for their new brutal game. It seems the sequel to the hit fighting game is getting darker than ever.
Injustice 2 is the second installment of the popular Mortal Kombat-esque Injustice series. It pins DC Comics hero versus fellow hero, or villain, in a battle to the death. The sequel has a ton of new features and characters entering the fray.
Join Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman and the rest of the Justice League as they take sides. Injustice 2 takes players to an alternate reality where wars have to be waged among gods. However, is it as awesome as the developers hype it to be?
Injustice 2: Enter Bane, Brainiac, Darkseid
The latest cinematic trailer of the game takes us further into the franchise’s mythos. NetherRealm Studios fans will finally understand the hype behind the slow release of the game’s full roster. Given it took a month to reveal the full Mortal Kombat X lineup, it only makes sense for Injustice to follow pursuit.
However, the Lines Are Redrawn trailer takes it to the next level. Aside from methodically-changing costumes, our heroes and villains are in for a treat. It appears Brainiac is the main villain pulling the strings behind the shadows. Ultra-powerful Bane and seductive Poison Ivy are added into the fray. According to Game Rant, aside from the futuristic Brainiac, this means two more heroes from Batman’s Rogues Gallery are added to the game.
However, perhaps what is more interesting is the appearance of big bad Darkseid. Players who pre-order the game will apparently have Apokolips’ chief ruler unlocked. This adds more fury to the roster of heroes and villains in the game.
The Story So Far
The game picks up where the first game ended. Batman’s new regime is at hand after the defeat of the war-enraged Superman. The latter is in chains, still grieving over the loss of Lois Lane at the hands of the Joker. However, Batman’s regime forces our heroes and villains to pick sides once more.
Viewers will see Kryptonian cousins Supergirl and Superman facing off. Fans who watch the trailer below can see that Supergirl’s ship is being tailed by Brainiac. Meaning, it appears Brainiac himself has sent Supergirl to Earth for his own devices.
Regardless, NetherRealm Studios seems to deliver with its continuous stream of intense fighting games. Injustice 2 will also have its own set of downloadable content with characters and other features. The game will be released on May 16, 2017.
