[Watch] NieR Automata Trailer Shows More About Androids & Battles

NieR Automata is an upcoming action role-playing video game developed by PlatinumGames. Square Enix will launch the title for the PS4 in Japan on February 23, in North America on March 7, and in Europe on March 10. They will also release it on PC this year. A PS4 demo is already available worldwide. With some time to spare before its initial release, Square Enix has recently released a 2-minute long trailer.

NieR Automata is set in the universe of NieR, a spin-off from the Drakengard series, which is an action role-playing video game series.  The events take place when Earth was left in a state of decay. The game occurs in the middle of a war between machines and humans. The game centers on  YoRHa No. 2 Model B, also known as 2B, and her battle with machine enemies.

Trailer Hints On Gameplay and Enemies

NieR Automata‘s trailer is entitled “Glory to Mankind 119450310.” The trailer features not only the main protagonist 2B, but also her friends 9S and A2. It shows more on how the action-packed game will unravel in its gameplay, androids and battles.

The trailer also shows the opponents that a player will face in the game. This includes the chainsaw-wielding Goliath, a big robotic sand worm, a horde of mechanical soldiers lead by a rogue android, and a twin-headed machine with two white-haired men named Adam and Eve who seem to play an important part in the game. Adam and Eve may also be one of the last humans on Earth.

As per the description of the trailer, “Humanity has been driven from the Earth by mechanical beings from another world.” 2B, with 9S and A2 in tow, are on a mission to defeat the invaders. The description also hints at “[the] war that could soon unveil a long-forgotten truth of the world.” Players would have to purchase the game to know the “truth” in question.

Despite the release of a trailer, neither PlatinumGames nor Square Enix has unveiled the release date for the PC version. The release date for the said platform was not even shown in the trailer. The game’s website also does not contain any details for the release date. Hopefully, the developer and publisher will release the date soon as the game is already near its PS4 launch. On a positive note, the game can be pre-ordered in the North American Square Enix website.
