Xbox gamers will understand the hype that comes with free titles every month. After all, new releases always meant new experiences to cherish. Here are the Xbox Games with Gold March 2017 entrants.
The new Xbox Games with Gold March 2017 titles are varied releases, as expected of Xbox. This means players have four free games to download for their consoles this month. However, the four games are not for both the Xbox One and Xbox 360.
The games for Xbox Games with Gold March 2017 are as follows: Layers of Fear, Evolve, Borderlands 2 and Heavy Weapon. The four games, albeit not heavy-hitting entries, all have their respective merits. All of them will be described below, along with their trailers.
Xbox Games With Gold March 2017 Releases
Regardless, the free games do appear with a caveat, as with other Xbox Games With Gold entries. According to Game Rant, the titles will not all be available at the beginning of March, and are not all compatible with both the Xbox One and Xbox 360. The schedule of the games are as follows:
- Layers of Fear (March 1 to 31)
- Evolve March 16 to April 15)
- Borderlands 2 (March 1 to 15)
- Heavy Weapon (March 16 to 31)
Layers of Fear is a first-person psychological horror game released last February 2016. This title, developed and published by Bloober Team, tasks players to control a disturbed painter trying to complete his greatest work. However, things start to get awry as he traverses a Victorian mansion. Players will see some disturbing secrets about the painter throughout the game.
Heavy Weapon is a lighter game to complement the rather intense horror that is Layers of Fear. PopCap Games is responsible for this delightful side-scroller, and is actually a classic. The 2005 game will have players guide an “atomic tank” through waves of enemy forces. They can upgrade their tank with powerful weapons.
However, the March 2017 entries are not at all just a swath of classic and newer games. As per the official Xbox release video, there are actually more critically-acclaimed franchises with them, such as Borderlands and Evolve. According to IGN, both of them are actually action-oriented first-person shooters, which meant the two aforementioned games will be met with equal firepower – albeit literally.
Evolve is a cooperative monster hunting game from the creators of Left 4 Dead. Players, or a player with three bot “allies,” are pit against a monster out to kill them. Interestingly, the “monster” itself can be another player. This offers a degree of flexibility as players will try to outsmart each other through every match. The science fiction element of the game provides space-age weaponry at the players’ disposal.
Borderlands 2 is perhaps the most iconic title of the four entries. Its signature cell-shaded visuals are something to admire, even while shooting aliens. The game takes place in an abandoned mining planet, where players (as mercenaries) equip themselves with gear to fight off monsters – or each other.
