The Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild is set for release this March. With this in mind, fans are wondering if the game’s famous horse Epona will make her appearance and whether or not she can be played.
Epona has been Link’s trusted steed in the games and has been a recurring character. With The Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild under development for more than four years, fans wondered if Epona would at least make a cameo or better yet, would be playable.
However, there has been no straight and exact answer coming from the developers. It seems as if The Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild creators love teasing their fans.
Series Producer Eiji Aonuma said that this version of Legend of Zelda was the most difficult game to make. This may seem worrying but at the same time, this is keeping fans of the game on the tips of their toes as they can’t wait to play it come March.

Reports about Epona’s “existence” in the game indicate that Epona is indeed in Breath of the Wild. But, she won’t be playable and may not be ridden.
Back in January, Aonuma said that Epona would be in the game. But Aonuma’s remark was teasing fans and saying that he does not want to reveal more details about Epona, how to find her, or explain further what his comment means.
It’s possible that Epona appears in another way as what is obvious and expected of her. But until Breath of the Wild becomes available, fans will need to take all these speculations with a grain of salt.
Horses And Stables
So far, what’s known in Breath of the Wild is that the stronger the horse is, the more difficult it would be to tame them. Horses can also die and as part of the game’s rules, cannot be brought back to life.
Link can own several horses at the same time. It is necessary that Link must feed and take care of his horses for their stats to increase.
Stables also exist where Link can keep his horses and stay for a while to rest up. When Link sleeps on a bed at an Inn, he’ll gain extra hearts when he awakes. These certain hearts are yellow and will not regenerate after damage is taken.
Breath of the Wild comes out on March 3. The game is playable on the Wii U and Nintendo Switch.
